Resources for Dixie Fire Survivors

person extending a helping hand

If you’ve been keeping up with our previous articles, you know that the team here at Kershaw Talley Barlow has been assisting the Dixie Fire survivors for some time now. According to a report done by CBS News, over 1,300 buildings were destroyed in three months, leaving hundreds of families displaced and struggling.

We know this is still a challenging time for Northern California residents, which is why we want to extend our hand and provide our community with resources to help residents get back on their feet.

American Red Cross: If you’re looking for immediate assistance, reach out to your local Red Cross shelter. The closest shelter to the affected areas is their Northern California Chapter, located in Yuba City, CA. Their page consists of post-emergency recovery resources and guides on recovering lost documents, emotionally coping, and filing insurance claims. For more information, visit their Disasters and Financial Planning page here.

California Fire Foundation: The California Fire Foundation has a variety of programs dedicated to assisting victims of natural disasters. Their Supplying Aid to Victims of Emergency (SAVE) program allows frontline firefighters to provide gift cards to eligible victims of natural disasters to provide for necessities in the time being. For more information on participating departments, visit their Participating Departpartments page.

United Way of Northern California: United Way of Northern California offers wildfire recovery & disaster relief for victims affected by the Dixie Fire and other local fires. If you are no longer in need of assistance but would like to help out, United Way is still accepting donations for victims still in need of aid. Their 2-1-1 page offers assistance for people in need of:

  • Food
  • Clothing
  • Returning home
  • Financial assistance
  • Property cleanup

Visit their 2-1-1 page to find further assistance based on your county.
