PG&E Could Be Liable for Paradise Camp Fire

Initially thought to be the natural result of Santa Ana winds sparking fires in California’s bone-dry brush, the Camp Fire carving a path of destruction through Northern California may not be natural at all. Since the fire began on November 8th, our attorneys have received countless requests from local homeowners and businesses, asking us to investigate PG&E’s role in causing this devastating fire.

PG&E, or Pacific Gas and Electric, is one of the largest electrical and gas utility providers in California, providing electricity to thousands of homes. According to a regulatory filing submitted by the company itself this Tuesday, PG&E “experienced an outage” in Butte County just 15 minutes before the Camp Fire began. As our legal team has begun to investigate the issue further, we have already found several indicators that PG&E could be responsible for the fire, although our investigation is still at an early stage.

Continuing Damages from the Deadly Camp Fire

The Camp Fire has wreaked untold damage on our local communities. As the fire blazes on, the death toll has now soared to 63 and counting, with more than 631 individuals listed as missing. In addition to the loss of life and separation of families, dozens of towns have been destroyed, including the once-thriving city of Paradise. Butte County Air Quality also released a report that Chico, Oroville, and Sacramento now have the worst air quality worldwide, and officials have urged all citizens in the Bay Area to wear a N95 mask outside.

PG&E has a long history of ignoring crucial infrastructure changes in favor of efficiency, and the company has already caused 4 of the 20 biggest wildfires in California history. If PG&E is ultimately found to be responsible for this fire too, it’s critical that they be held accountable for their continued negligence. As attorneys with more than $1 billion recovered in successful outcomes for our clients, we have the resources and experience to effectively fight on behalf of our clients, and help them reclaim some measure of justice for their losses.
