Ford Motor Company Fire Risk and Door Safety Recall

If you own a 2013 to 2015 Ford, make sure your vehicle isn’t one that has been recalled. Ford has issued a safety recall for some of their vehicles due to under-hood fire risks or defective door latches. To help with your driving safety, here’s what you need to know about the Ford recall.

The 2014 Escape, 2014-2015 Fiesta ST, 2013-2014 Fusion, and the 2013-2015 Transit Connect are the vehicles that may have an under-hood fire risk. The risk is that the engine in the car could overheat. If this occurs and there is an oil leak, when the oil comes into contact with a hot surface it could cause a fire. There have been 29 reports of fires in the U.S. and Canada, but luckily no injuries. So, if your Ford is leaking oil or is overheating, please bring it into your dealer just to be safe.

The 2014 Fiesta, 2013-2014 Fusion, and the 2013-2014 Lincoln MKZ have been recalled because of a defective door latch. These vehicles have a spring tab in the door latch that could break, resulting in the door not closing properly. Currently, there are no reports of accidents or injuries concerning this recall, and hopefully it stays this way. To play it safe, if you own any of these models, bring your car into the dealer to get it checked out.

Either of these recalls could be dangerous and affect your safety, so if you or a loved one own any of the above modes, please take the vehicle in to see whether it has an under-hood fire risk or if the door latch is defective. The Ford reference numbers for these recalls are 17509 for the engine issue, and 15516 for the door latch issue. Please drive safely this summer and continue to drive safe vehicles!
